MIG Insurance has proven that big gifts do indeed come in small packages.

The Portage la Prairie-based firm, which also has branches in St. Claude, Winkler and Winnipeg, has recently been named one of Manitoba's top 25 employers.

"We're definitely the smallest company in the listing, and to have attracted that kind of attention at that level, it's really meaningful," said Susan Gilbert, one of the co-owners of the company.

Susan and her husband Brian Gilbert join other co-owners Rob Suderman, Doug Fast and Julie Notley-Guevarra in the company's executive group.

Brian Gilbert agreed smaller can be better, and is pleased the company has made its mark among many bigger firms.

"We're really thrilled to be considered in the top 25," he said. "When we look at the businesses listed in that, there are some really large companies. To be thought of in that context is humbling, and to be the only one of two companies that has (its) headquarters outside of the city of Winnipeg makes us feel pretty good too."

Mediacorp Canada Inc., based in Toronto, was responsible for selecting the winners for the competition.
