The Portage Collegiate Institute Trojans will play on to a rematch of last year's West Winnipeg Athletic Conference final after a convincing quarter-final win on home court Wednesday.

The Trojans varsity boys' team played nearly flawless volleyball while hammering the Oak Park Raiders in straight sets (25-12, 25-12, 25-20) at PCI.

The win put the fourth-seeded Trojans into a semifinal match-up with the conference's top-ranked St. Paul's Crusaders, and Portage will be looking for revenge after playing St. Paul's tough several times dating back to the 2008 WWAC final.

The Trojans were the better team serving, blocking and passing, and had the offence running in full swing against the fifth-seeded Raiders.

"We didn't have a lot to say to the boys after, because they came out and did exactly what they needed to do," said Trojans' head coach Bob Kriski. "Oak Park looked a little shell-shocked as the match went on. They stopped hitting because our block shut them down, and once you've got a team rolling and giving you free balls, then you know you've done something good."

The Trojans absolutely dominated the opening set, jumping out to an 11-1 lead.
